does putting play marker on your golf ball to mark it as yours do anything bad to it?

i mark my balls with 2 stripes is that bad for the ball?
oops does puting marker on your ball to mark it… was what that was suposed to say

Of course not.
For one you should mark your golf ball so you can identify it as clearly being yours in certain situations.
Second, you can line up one of those stripes with the line of your putt as an alignment tool. Most pros’s do it. Most amateurs don’t.

No, it won’t hurt it. You could draw "lady in the park" by Monet on your ball, and it’d be OK. In fact, it’s part of The Rules- you have to be able to identify your ball- so keep doing what you’re doing. The two-line mark is a good idea… easily identifiable. Use Sharpies- the markings will last longer.

No, it does not affect the way the golf ball flies, at least not that anyone knows of. 2 stripes is a great way to identify a ball, since most people only do 1 stripe, if at all. I’d advise not to get too excessive when marking your ball (i.e. your full name) because it can give an impression that you are not a serious golfer, but if it reflects your personality, go for it!

    It is absolutely ok.

You may find it interesting that ALL professional golfers mark their balls. That is because they MUST be able to identify their ball.

One of the biggest manufacturers, Titleist, had a funny commercial a year or so, called "how do you mark your Titleist", in which they had different pros show their very creative marks. I can’t seem to find that, but have included a link from their site, of a contest on marking balls.

So, no problem! Have fun, and be creative!
