I was wondering if anyone knew of golf blogs i can receive reviews and post course reviews?

any help would be nice, i enjoy trying courses and writing about them so id appreciate anything

You can always post your review on google….

I see you’re a Cubs fan. GO CUBBIES!!! So if you are from Chicago like me….go to:

http://www.twoguyswhogolf.com/ <——These guys have a lot of reviews about different courses in the Chicagoland area.

As far as writing a review….I don’t know if there are any blogs for Chicago golf where you can submit a review….do some research though.

What courses have you played lately and what did you think of them? If you haven’t played Big Run in Lockport, give it a whirl…..I really enjoy it even though it’s fairly tough!!!

ok im 15 and i play alot of golf and im pretty good but my putting is pretty bad can any help my bad putting?

ok i play golf almost every day and average about a 40-42 but i know i can do a lot better but my putting is not that great,i get really nervous and that makes me miss putts, and then i loose all confidence,so can any one help me

The best thing you can do to help your putting is to focus on speed and distance control. If you always focus on stroking your putts the correct distance, it removes a lot of the pressure from trying to make putts or trying to not miss putts. Even on the practice green, set up on your line, assume that you have aimed it as well as you can, and try to roll it the right distance.
Good luck!

What would be a good golf practice regime for a junior?

I go to high school and am on the school team. I play of a 5 and am looking to become a scratch golfer. I can play on monday, wednesday, friday, saturday and sunday. I currently play 2 rounds of golf a week along with an hour of short game practice. I spend a lot of time playing competitively with friends. I am wondering what a good conclusive practice regime would be that could include occasional lessons.

My main weakness is driving and apart from that shots are lost purely on overall consistency. My strengths are chipping, ball striking and short putts.

Thanks, all replies are welcome, especially from those with personal experience. :)

I’m also in high school and I’m the number one player on our team. I play to a 2.5 index.

Last year I was a 5.5 index and I was spending almost 3 hours a day at the practice range. That’s not the way you want to go if you want to improve. It sounds like you could use a little time at the range if your driving isn’t at the level you would like it to be, but no more than one hour a day. Work on alignment with a club on the ground between you and the ball, set-up parallel left of your target. If your driving doesn’t improve, consider taking lessons and find a coach/instructor that really understands your swing.

Also, if you have a good short game and are a good putter, you probably don’t need to practice those two parts of your game too much. You could cut some of your short game time to work on oyur long game. Practice your weaknesses, not your strengths.

This is some good advice I heard from my swing coach – "If you’re playing well, then play. If you’re not playing well, practice."

If you’re on a hot streak and playing really well, you don’t need to practice as much.

Ladies and GCG if you were a golf course how many holes would be open for putting?

2 maybe 3. That 3rd one takes a lot of work. I mean A LOT of work! And I’m not sure I’m ever going to be up for that much work.

Is it ok to wear sunglasses when playing golf?

I have heard it bothers with your perception of the greens when you wear sunglasses playing golf. Is this true or do you find it does not bother you at all?

I wear prescription shades when I play. I have very dry eyes so I need the protection from the wind not to mention the sun. Sun can do a lot of damage to your eyes.

I did have a pair of off the shelf shades (cheap) and I noticed while on the tee one day the ground looked like it was slopping up behind the ball. I didn’t wear those anymore for golf.

i managed to scrape off a few years from my dads life by hitting him with a golf cart…..?

im not realy sure how to make it up to him. i kinda ran over his ankle and its spranged(is that right?)
what should i do? i figure i have about 2 or 3 hours before he gets home from the hospital. i wasnt even sure whether to go there with him or not…should i have gone?

Sorry to hear that. Believe it or not, a sprained ankle will not shorten his life unless he is elderly. A sprained ankle may hurt a lot but it is temporary.

I would meet him at the car, apologize, and help with anything you can.

Offer to assist him with anything he might need right away and ask questions like what did the doc say, what is the diagnosis, and what are the doctors orders.

Visit with him and offer some practical assistance. Maybe you can pick up a prescription for him or do some chores.

Try to relax a little. It will be OK. Both his injury and your relationship can heal can heal remarkably well.

P.S. My brothers best buddy ran him over with a big old heavy tractor and they stayed friends. Accidents happen.

Reviews of Visiball golf ball finding sunglasses?

Answers only from people who have bought or tried them out, please.

My friend bought a pair and we both found them to be pretty dumb. Basically they seem to filter light similar to how things look under a blacklight so that white things show up as brighter. What they don’t mention is that this works for anything that is white or light colored and since you can’t really see very well through these things except color differences it ends up highlighting every little bit of junk on the course and not just balls. This was especially brutal on our regular course as there are a lot of cottonwood trees on the back 9 that dump white fluffy seeds all over the place like snow during this time of year.

Will putting a sports exhaust on my golf make much difference?

I’m thinking of putting a scorpion or jam speed exhaust on my 2.3 v5 mk4 golf, will this improve the cars performance and what about a KN air filter will that make much difference?

A higher flow exhaust and a K&N will generally gain you a few horsepower, but be careful. The computers in many newer cars are designed to run only with the factory parts, so if you start adding high performance equipment (K&Ns don’t usually cause trouble, but an exhaust that flows exhaust much more freely, for example) can make the computer think that something has failed and this usually redices performance. A high performance chip will usually fix this, but make sure the chip is compatible with the mods you’re doing. Also, if you want to make more serious poower, look into things like a hotter camshaft (again, consider the computer), larger fuel injectors, a turbo or supercharger, or porting and polishing the head for better flow into and out of the cylinders. There is a lot you can do with a computer controlled car, but you need to be careful that everything will work with the computer and each other. Also, if you can only afford one or two things right now, you may want to look for a computer chip that is rated too work with both stock and modified engines. That way you have some improvement right away, and it will make it much easier to make more changes in the future. I hope this helps!

My golf shots are slicing IRONS ONLY?

Hi everyone,

I am having some real trouble with my iron shots. I am a sophmore in high school and average about a 53 in our golf matches. The bad thing is i literally chunk 1 to 2 swings every hole. if i can get These shots shaved off then i think i can do a lot better. My drives are about 215 (i shoot a fade driver, not on purpose) and I putt 1-2 MAXIMUM. My Irons are really bringing my game down. I can hit my SW an easy 75 straight and my PW an easy 115 a little to the right. BUT MY DAMN 8 AND 6 IRON ARE CHUNK CHUNK OR MAJOR SLICEEEEE. I dont know what is wrong. Yes i could only afford a SW,PW,8 and 6, i plan on getting others later but for now this must suffice. Any advice???

Sure it has something to do with "coming over the top", also known as making your downswing from the outside in. It also has to do with coming down at a steep angle. It’s the combination of swing path and swing steepness that cause the chunk and/or slice. Here are a couple drills that will help:

(1) Make your swing more shallow.

— Another way of looking at this is to widen your swing, or don’t pick the club up so much with your hands/arms.

Drill – Start by placing a golf ball about 18 inches behind the golf ball you are about to hit. That’s 18 inches to the right of the ball you are going to hit (if u are right handed). Make sure your weight is centered and then begin your takeaway (start the backswing). Brush the grass with the bottom of your clubhead and maintain that until you knock the 2nd golf ball out of the way. This will ensure a smooth, shallow takeaway and minimize the steepness of your swing. Long story short, this will get rid of the chunks.

(2) Reverse swing path drill.

— If you are slicing the ball, you need to try a drill that reverses your current swing path, from outside in (across your body) to inside out…
… and from swinging at the ball, to swinging through the ball.

For a drill, try taking the club back on an outside path (think Fred Couples or Lee Trevino here, and if you don’t know those guys, find a video on youTube of one of them) and dropping it in and around your body as you swing through the ball. It’s almost like you’re trying to block a shot out to right field intentionally. The only difference is, you want to extend thru the ball at impact and don’t be afraid to release the club by turning your body thru to the finish of your swing.

So to summarize, drill #1 – put a 2nd golf ball about 18 inches behind the ball you want to hit. Make your backswing and be sure to brush the grass and knock the ball out the way in the backswing.

#2 Do the same as drill #1, but this time move the 2nd ball away from your body about 2 inches. Try and hit the 2nd ball again in your backswing and in doing so, your swing path should start outside of where it normally does. Re-route the club back to the inside and when you get to impact, be sure to swing thru the ball and release the club, kind of like cracking a whip thru the ball and at your target.

I hope this helps!
