Which president liked golf so much that he had a putting green built on the White House lawn?

Any ANSWERS?

It was Eisenhower.
The United States Golf Association, with the help of privately donated money, built a two-hole putting green and a sand trap on the White House lawn very near the Oval Office. He kept an iron in the Oval Office so that he could escape to the lawn and practice.

“Odd Todd, I understand what you are saying about The Golf Fix, but he jumps around too much. I have over 150 students at various levels, and while I like the idea of not talking so freakin much, he needs to have a focus for each show, organize it better and slow down. Too much stuff and too short a time frame. This show has hope, but I would still rather see more instructors with different perspectives. Too much of one guy. I LOVE the old golf academy and the NEW Tennis Academy. This was a way to bring in a no-name and save money to me. He is not giving you anything new. Same of golf drills, tips, etc. that everyone uses. Nothing new here. No system, method of teaching…nothing. Just more ways to cramp a golfer’s brains.”

How can tiger woods be surprised when his personal life is not so personal?

He does commercials trying to be a role model and makes insane amounts of money endorsing shoes made by kids in third world countries. If he really wanted privacy he would not be doing a million commercials and doing tv interviews that promote himself not golf. I think everyone has a right to a personal life but if you choose to fool people into believing things that are not true expect the crap to hit the fan.

I agree with you. This is part of the deal of promoting himself as some sort of superhuman, smiling pitchman. It’s never been about the game of golf, it’s about the aura of being tiger. But being in the public eye means people looking at all the things you do, good and bad.

He’s just surprised because he’s not used to hearing bad things about himself. Everybody usually lines up to kiss and massage his bottom. Corporate media is still giving him a butt rubdown by sticking with him and defending him.

What are my chances of being admitted to Sewanee: The University of the South?

This is very vague, but all of your opinions are welcome:

I have made pretty good grades at a moderately difficult private school (my average is a 96.9). I made an 18 on the ACT in seventh grade. I hope to make mid to high 20s the next time I take it (11th grade). I play golf, life guard, and am a member of my school’s Honor Society.

Once again, I know this is vague, but thnx.

You should be just fine if you take the ACT again and score in the 25+. It is a private school, so money means more than anything.

While in a golf store I had someone ask me if I’d heard of Miura Irons, and Hiro Honma Irons. Who makes them?

What type of player are they meant for. Has anyone tried them so I can give an honest review?

Miura Irons are among the best clubs in the world. In years past, when a PGA Tour player did not like the irons his sponsor made, he would have Miura make him a set and stamp their sponsor’s name on them (i. e., Taylormade). They’ve only been selling them under their actual brand name for a couple of years now, which is why they are not well known (and sometimes hard to find), along with the fact that they are very expensive (about $1200 a set).

Miura makes several models of irons. Most of them are designed for better golfers, but they have models geared towards middle and somewhat high handicappers (maybe 15 or less).

Miura are among the best of the best. I have literally never heard a person who owned a set say a bad word about them. If money is no object, or that is your price range, you should certainly look into them. I would also suggest looking into a company called Scratch Golf. They are an American company making clubs that are in the same league as Miura, and have a few different models that may better suit your game.

If you don’t want to spend that kind of money, you can gets clubs almost as good for far less from custom clubmakers. I use a set of forged clubs from a company called KZ Golf that cost several hundred dollars less that Miuras, and I would not trade for anything.

Choose The Right Golf Balls For Your Game

If there is one aspect of your game that you can improve for very little money, it is choosing the right golf balls. Whilst you cannot improve your game massively without practice, patience and skill, getting the right golf balls can help speed up the process of improvement can give you an edge over your opponents. There are balls for every type of golfer, from those who require better control on the greens to golfers who want that extra bit of distance on their tee and iron shots. Whatever sort of game you have, here are some examples of the best golf balls around that will add something extra to your golf game.

Balls for practice

Getting better at golf is all about practice, and so it is important to have a good stock of practice golf balls to use. These balls still need to be of a good quality, but ones that perhaps you don’t mind losing if shots go wrong. Practice balls are usually cheaper, and so it is advisable to buy them in larger amounts. You can also get softer or basic plastic balls to use in your garden on park to practice shots without damaging property or hurting people around you. These balls are great if you just want to practice your swing without going to the driving range or golf course. Make sure you have a variety of practice balls to help you improve your game.

Balls for added control

There are some golf balls on the market at the moment that are great for those players who need to add control to their game. If you have the power but lack accuracy, choose a golf ball that will help you hit straighter and keep those shots on the fairway. Many balls have the ability to cut out backspin, meaning you can be sure your balls will stop on the greens where you place them rather than running away from the hole.

Balls for distance

Many of the golf balls on the market today are designed to give players more distance than ever before. These balls are hi-tech and can fly through the air at incredible speed. Particularly good for those players who can swing quickly, distance balls will allow you to hit the ball further than you have imagined doing before. If you are struggling with those par 5 holes and need the extra power, then a distance ball is a good choice.

Novelty balls

Not all golf balls are about serious technology and features though. There are plenty of interesting novelty balls on the market as well. From balls that flash and light up when they are hit to balls shaped like American footballs, there is something for everyone in the novelty ball market. If you want to have a little fun with your golf game, then novelty balls are a great item to purchase.

stevie wonder…. golf pro?

Stevie Wonder and Tiger Woods are in a bar. Tiger turns to Stevie and says, "How’s the singing career going?" Stevie Wonder replies, "Not too bad. How’s the golf?"

Tiger replies, "Not too bad, I’ve had some problems with my swing, but I think I’ve got that going right now." Stevie says, "I always find that when my swing goes wrong, I need to stop playing for a while and not think about it. Then, the next time I play, it seems to be all right."

Tiger asks, "You play golf?" Stevie says, "Oh, yes, I’ve been playing for years."

Tiger says, "But you’re blind! How can you play golf if you can’t see?" Stevie replies, "I get my caddy to stand in the middle of the fairway and call to me. I listen for the sound of his voice and play the ball toward him. Then, when I get to where the ball lands, the caddy moves to the green or farther down the fairway and again I play the ball toward his voice."

"But how do you putt?" asks Tiger. "Well," says Stevie, "I get my caddy to lean down in front of the hole and call to me with his head on the ground, and I just play the ball toward his voice."

Tiger asks, "What’s your handicap?" Stevie says, "Well, I’m a scratch golfer."

Tiger, incredulous, says to Stevie, "We’ve got to play a round sometime." Stevie replies, "Well, people don’t take me seriously, so I only play for money, and never play for less than $10,000 a hole."

Tiger thinks about it and says, "OK, I’m game for that, when would you like to play?"

Stevie says, "Pick a night."

dang it, i was laughing so hard i fell out of the chair!
