K&N 57-0299 Performance Intake Kit VW GOLF MK3 1,4, 1.6 SPI

K&N 57i Series Induction Kits are specifically designed for each different vehicle and will free your car from the size restriction that comes with the factory air box. These economical kits can take a variety of different forms based on vehicle characteristics and available space under the hood. Each kit is designed to provide power throughout the RPM range. The extra surface area of these open-air air filters provide even more airflow at lower restriction than a K&N O/E replacement filter which is always limited to the size of the factory air box. The larger air filter also captures and holds more dirt increasing its service life before a cleaning is required (up to 100,000 miles). The filter is either directly attached to the engine carburetor or throttle body or indirectly through a tube assembly running from the filter to the engine. All adaptors are made from high quality materials such as steel, aluminum, silicon or reinforced nylon to ensure long life. [MORE]

How do i fix/install remote central locking in my VW Golf?

I have bought an ‘M’ reg golf and the central locking doesn’t work. I don’t know if this model should have central locking or not and how i would fix it if it did. I have a small child so if I could install remote central locking it would make my life so much easier, but could really use some advice! Thanks

Call the dealer and ask. Phone calls are cheap. Every Golf I’ve seen since ’98 has had a central locking feature. If you bought it used, it may not be working.

Will putting a higher grade gas into my VW Golf ’02 damage the engine?

I had a check engine light come on in my 2002 VW Golf (gas 2.0). I took it to have the computer read at it came up saying "catalyst efficiency below threshold". The auto guy told me to try putting mid-grade gas into it, because a higher octane gas could help the problem.

My car is supposed to use regular gas, would moving up to mid-grade damage my car?

By the way, my car has 76,000 miles on it.

just use the regular gas that the car was designed to run on and the money you save will buy you the new catalyic converter that you need, sound like it’s getting plugged up.

my vw bora [golf] has just refused to start, there is plenty of life in the battery, it just wont fire, anyone?

ideas or had anything similar, thanks.

You really didnt give much info, year of car?, is it cranking? did anything happen out of ordinary before you tried to start(replace anything or recharge, jump, refuel, stall, etc) I remember once an old vw wouldnt start until seatbelt fully seated but I imagine you’d know that. any check engine light? if it cranks over can you hear fuel pump buzz? do all the dash light light up as normal? I could go on asking questions but I thought that you wanted answers

Are other people having problems with their VW Golf or other model?

I just purchased a VW golf and now the MIL light came on. I checked the manual and it said that it may be b/c the car has been idleing. I did idle the car shortly before it came on. Are other people having fickle problems with their VW?

I’ve been looking over reviews for the VW golf and they look grim.
i have a 2003 VW Golf
54000 miles

Idling will not turn on the check engine light. A gas cap that is not properly tightened could illuminate the MIL light. Other than that you will need to get the car diagnosed with a OBD 2 computer or Vag COM from VW. What engine do you have? TDI will be the least problem prone at least with my experiences. 2000-2002 were pretty bad in terms of quality control.

what is the life expectancy in miles of a vw golf petrol engine?

the car is a vw golf 1.8gl 1996

I have a 1995 VW Jetta..160,000 + miles
and a 1985 VW GTI with over 250,000+ miles and both engines are original, run strong, and pass smog with flying colors…The key to long life in any car is "Good Maintenance"

What is the life expectancy of a 1999 VW Jetta or Golf?

I was wondering how many miles a 1999 Jetta or Golf (new body style) will go and what kind of repairs they would require.

Ditto with KB. Make sure you keep up the maintenance on it and that car will last a very long time. However if its an automatic, there’s a good chance that will eventually start to give out since Volkswagen isn’t known for making the best automatic transmissions. A technical glitch isn’t out of the question but when they do happen they’re nothing major by any means. Otherwise you should be set to go! Hope that’s somewhat helpful!
